Bessel Van Der Kolk

Trauma is a fact of life.  In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Christine Northrup

This is a great book I read years ago and it now includes a new section on sex after 50—and how, if need be, you can rejuvenate your sex life; and all you need to know about perimenopause and why it’s critical to your well-being.

Angeles Arrien

When you find the courage to change at midlife,”  a miracle happens. Your character is opened, deepened, strengthened, softened. You return to your soul’s highest values. You are now prepared to create your legacy: a dream that can fully come true in The Second Half of Life.

RJ Spina

This one got to the core of how I think. RJ doesn’t write about changing your circumstances, he writes about asking questions of yourself that helps you understand why you are you. If you have ever felt like the person everyone else sees is a performance, this book will make you feel less alone in that and then show you a way through it. I return to it when I need to remember what is actually real.

Panache Desai

Panache Desai has a way of saying things that bypass your intellect and land somewhere lower. This book is not inspirational in the way that phrase has been ruined. It is honest. It sat next to my bed for months. The chapter on shame alone is worth the price of the book. If you have spent your life performing acceptable, this one will reach you.

Neville Goddard

This book teaches how to create your desires by feeling that you already have what you want. Using your imagination to believe and feel your wishes and desires are already fulfilled, you impress your subconscious mind, which then brings the desire into your physical world. He shares practical techniques, to shift your consciousness and change your destiny.

Derick Grant

I found Derick Grant at a point when I understood intellectually that my past had shaped me but had no idea how to actually move through it. This book is practical in a way that most inner child work is not. It doesn’t ask you to relive everything. It asks you to understand the laws operating beneath your patterns — and then change them. There’s a directness to his approach that I respond to deeply.

Jen Sincero

This book had me rollin’! The way she delivers information is relatable with a spiritual twist. Jen shares her money story from broke to wealth and believes she can help you to change yours too. The book focuses on your mindset towards money. While she is honest about how she paid thousands of dollars for coaches and invested lots of money into building her profile, her brand and her company, for her the transformation was a result of her changing her mindset.

Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

I will be honest with you: this book is deep and not for the faint of heart. It is a series of conversations with a man who saw through every constructed layer of human identity, and he does not soften any of it. But if you are ready for it — if you have been asking the bigger questions about who you actually are beneath everything you have been called and everything you have done — this book will alter you in a quiet, permanent way. Start with just a few pages at a time, and just sit and expand your mind.

I only recommend things I truly love and use.
